Peter Graffy
#26 Madison Radicals (AUDL), Madison (Club)
Peter Graffy, #26 of the Madison Radicals, is one of the sport’s most revered players today, holding the AUDL record for the most defensive blocks (49 Ds) in a regular season.
Graffy began playing ultimate around the age of 14, introduced by one of his childhood friends who played at Madison West High School, where he now coaches.
Living across the street from each other, they tossed endlessly at a nearby park. Although Graffy played various sports, primarily soccer, the aspects of ultimate’s running and jumping appealed to him.
At the end of his sophomore year, his friend invited him to play in a high school rivalry game against Memorial High School, under the stadium lights. Though Graffy was unfamiliar with the structure and stratagems of ultimate such as stacks and offensive flows, during the experience he always knew being on that field felt right.
He has played ever since.
“I want to give kids the experience that I had growing up because I want to share the sport that legitimately changed my life for the better. I've seen firsthand how addicting ultimate can be, so I just want to get as many kids exposed to it as possible.”
