Octavia 'Opi' Payne
Molly Brown #9 (Club)
Opi's first introduction to ultimate happened on a dirt field behind a public library one summer night in Baltimore. It was a ragtag pickup game arranged by some schoolmates. They used a hazard orange disc.
That fall, Opi headed off to college coming off 8 seasons of track and field and looking for a change of pace. However, she kept remember that one blast of a night playing that pickup ultimate game, so she decided to join the Penn ultimate team. The rest is history.

"I "grew up" in the Philadelphia ultimate community. It's where I learned how to throw a proper flick, how to layout, what elite ultimate looked like. I went to my first college and club nationals with Philly teams."

"Eight years since my first game of ultimate, I've been lucky enough to have traveled abroad for the sport, been teammates and made friends with players across the country and the international community and won a few titles in the process. This year, I'm trying out for the 2016 WUGC women's team and if I make it, I hope to bring home a gold from that tournament. Next season will also be my second with Denver's Molly Brown. I'd love to help bring a championship to that city."
