Daniel Naruo
#25 San Francisco Flamethrowers (AUDL), #25 Polar Bears (Club)
For Naruo, ultimate has been a big part of life. Since childhood, he took a strong interest in football and basketball. High school was where he saw local teams such as Jam, Fury and Brass Monkey play at tournaments as he was getting started. They served as a base level Naruo knew he had to surpass if he was going to eventually play competitively at Club Nationals. Each year, he played against some of these high level teams to see how much he would progress on a daily basis.
There came a time where he had to choose between the ultimate and football. Naruo chose ultimate because he felt it was something he would play after graduation and enjoyed it thoroughly. He knew he wanted to eventually play on a competitive team with his friends and finds himself lucky to have been involved in just that in 2010 when the Polar Bears club team was formed.
In the AUDL's 2015 season, Naruo played for the San Francisco Flamethrowers.

“It was an amazing experience that I didn't think was going to be possible when I was back in high school and I even had kids coming up to me after games asking for autographs. I will continue to play as much as I can at the highest level I can because I love this sport so much.”
